After some years haunting and selling comics at flea markets and garage sales, Phil established Heroes in Campbell California in 1985. A second store was opened in 1989. After purchasing the Mountain View California comic shop in 2002, Phil paid homage to the legendary Bob Sidebottom by assuming the name Comic Collector Shop.

Leveraging his years of comic expertise, in 2008 Condition Potential Realization Services was launched. To this day, CPRS offers an elite comic book pressing service exclusively performed by Phil himself.

Later in 2019, Alan Bahr who purchased Heroes in 1995 teamed up with Phil to open two locations in the Bay Area named “Heroes and Champions” in the former Comic Collector Shop location. In 2024 Phil sold his ownership in both stores.

Champion Comics has moved out from the Bay Area and re-located to Phoenix Arizona!

Featuring a massive back issue, magazine, fanzine, Marvelmania, and original art selection. Champion Comics is poised to challenge the new frontier!
